ELISA REPORTS BACK ON HER COUPLE'S GETAWAY TO ITALY

September is my favorite time of year to go to Europe. The weather is in the low 80’s, the mass tourist crowd is gone but still busy enough to have a buzzy vibe and you can finally score a table at the latest hotspots with ease… well, most of the time. With all five children settled back into their respective schools, we decided to pack our bags and head to Italy for ten nights, dividing our time between the island of Capri and the city of Florence with a delish pizza lunch stop in chaotic Napoli. We spent our days in Capri lounging poolside or at various beach clubs with long, lazy lunches or on a boat, island hopping. In Florence, it was all about living like a local and immersing ourselves in the food, the wine and the culture. To say we lived la dolce vita, would be an understatement and it served as a wonderful reminder to both of us why it is so important to continue to carve time for each other away from the craziness of our busy lives. STIRRED OR SHAKEN: TIERRA CHILOE’S ILUN COCKTAIL

Ilún means "to wish" in the native mapudungún language. While you may be wishing you could enjoy this cocktail while gazing at the serene coastal views from the Tierra Chiloé bar, ( we have been and it is AMAZING ) it's easy enough to recreate at home while the borders are closed.

What you'll need:

• Mortar and pestle like this one

• 1 oz Irish whiskey, which you can buy online at Reservebar

• 1 oz simple syrup such as this

• 1 peach

• Half a lime

• 3 dashes bitters, which you can buy online at Reservebar

Instructions:

Crush the peach with the half lime and add 3 dashes of bitters. Combine with white vermouth, whiskey, and simple syrup.

SPAIN'S ENTRY REQUIREMENTS CHANGING SEPTEMBER 6TH

Email from The Spain Tourism Board today:

SPAIN WILL CONTINUE TO WELCOME VACCINATED TRAVELERS FROM THE U.S.

Starting at 00:01 (in Spain) on Monday, September 6, the U.S. will not be on Spain's list of countries exempted from restrictions for travelers, as a result of the elimination of the U.S. from the list of countries considered safe in the COVID context of the European Union.

However, Spain will continue to admit vaccinated travelers from the U.S. who have received both doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine (or any other vaccines approved by the WHO), at least 14 days prior to arrival in Spain, as well as unvaccinated children under 12 years of age who accompany them.

Travelers must provide the official CDC vaccination card and fill out an online health control questionnaire before traveling.

In Spain, 70.5% of the population has already completed the vaccination cycle, and 77.2% have already received at least one dose. It is the third country in Europe with the highest percentage of completed vaccinations.

BREAKING NEWS: ITALY CHANGES ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR US TRAVELERS BASED ON YOUR VACCINATION STATUS

OETKER COLLECTION COCKTAIL RECIPES

LE BAR DU BRISTOL’S COCKTAIL LE MIJO

INGREDIENTS

4 cl of white Don Julio tequila
1 cl of Mezcal
2 cl of salted butter caramel syrup
1 cl of fresh pumpkin mash
2 cl of fresh lemon juice
2 cl of cane sugar syrup
3 cl of fresh blood orange mash

Mix all of the ingredients in a shaker with crushed ice. Pour over ice in your favourite glass. Add a cinnamon stick and dehydrated fruit slices on top for a decorative garnish.

THE LIBRARY BAR AT LANESBOROUGH LONDON’S NAPOLEON ESPRESSO MARTINI

INGREDIENTS

20 ml crunchy honey syrup*
15 ml Amaretto
45 ml coffee or double espresso
50 ml softened Hennessy VS Cognac with butter**

METHOD

Shake all the ingredients well in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Strain and serve in your favorite coupe or martini glass.

GARNISH

Crushed amaretti biscuit rimmed glass + 3 coffee beans

 * Crunchy honey syrup

Dissolve 1 part honey into 1 part hot water.
Add 1 Amaretti biscuits per 100 ml.
Mix in a blender and set aside it to rest until cold.
Strain through a cheesecloth muslin into a bottle and keep in the fridge.

 ** Softened Hennessy VS Cognac with butter

Use 200g of butter per 700 ml Hennessy VS bottle.
Gently warm 200 ml Hennessy VS Cognac with 200g unsalted butter in a pot over medium heat.
Stir to dissolve the butter and then pour in the rest of the Hennessy VS cognac.
Continue to stir until well dissolved and allow to cool at room temperature.
Store in a freezer for 24 hours, allowing the butter to solidify.
Fine strain the liquid back into the Hennessy VS bottle.

ST. BARTH’S EDEN ROCK’S REMY BAR YUZU SMASH

INGREDIENTS

35ml Guillotine Vodka (or Vodka of your choice)
35ml yuzu liqueur
20ml yuzu or lemon juice
15ml simple syrup
8 basil leaves

 METHOD

Muddle basil leaves in shaker before adding the remainder of the ingredients. Fill with ice and shake. Pour into a cocktail glass and garnish with a yuzu flavored marshmallow and a basil leaf.

PALACIO TANGARA’S BURLE BAR’S TROPICAL SUNSET

INGREDIENTS

50 ml Amaro di Angostura
3 dashes Angostura Bitters
2 dashes Angostura Orange
30 ml citrus mix (fresh squeezed orange + lime juice, half and half)
Tonic water to fill the glass

METHOD

Shake all ingredients (except for the tonic water) in a shaker with ice and pour into a tall glass filled with ice cubes. Top with tonic and garnish with an orange slice and mint leaf.

“ When my husband announced he wanted to drive cross country with our three kids this summer in an RV, I was not exactly thrilled… until he said that we could stop for 4 nights at Amangiri to break up the trip. Amangiri has been on my bucket list for years and was definitely what I needed after sleeping ten nights in our mini-bus. Our family had the most epic time exploring the area which included a visit to Horseshoe Bend, Zion National Park and a boat day on beautiful Lake Powell where the kids went tubing for hours. The hotel is simply magical, and the landscape makes you feel as if you are on planet Mars. The staff was so friendly and welcoming to our kids and the food at both of their restaurants was delicious. The nightly s’more platters they would leave by our suite’s fire pit was such a treat for the kids. Bucket list check!”

BEHIND THE SCENES: EASY BREEZY FAMILY SKI TIME... WEST COAST STYLE

Whoever said “ The family that skis together, stays together” had clearly never skied with my crew. In my early years of motherhood, I rented a home for 4 months every winter in Southern Vermont to fulfill the dream, but the reality was quite the opposite and I always ended up feeling frustrated by the experience. With one child more interested in the lodge hot chocolate then the slopes, one who cared about fashion over form and one who found her parents too slow, a family ski trip just never seemed to go well for us. Within one hour on the mountain we would end up finding ourselves taking turns skiing with one child while the other parent entertained the other children in the lodge as our home was 15 minutes away by car. With the cost of ski passes, ski school and rentals, logistics and sheer amount of “ stuff “ that I was driving to and from the mountain, the idea of packing up our lives to ski out west for school break over the seamless shores of the islands seemed absolutely daunting…until I finally made it to Montage Deer Valley.
