This year for the holidays, Four Seasons Philadelphia teamed up with master designer Jeff Leatham, transporting their guests into a gorgeous winter wonderland. Leatham is an American designer mainly associated with floral design. He was awarded the Chevalier Legion of Honour from the nation of France in 2014. Leatham is the creative director of George V Hotel, Four Seasons Hotels in Beverly Hills and now Philadelphia. Together they curated custom holiday workshops ranging from Jeff Leatham centerpiece creation, cocktail crafting, gingerbread house making, and so much more, allowing guests to feel like they can still have that true sense of a holiday getaway and the opportunity to make new memories with their families, without having to travel very far. Below we created our take on how to weekend in Philly —
FRIDAY
3PM: Check in and let the kids hit the spectacular indoor pool.
6PM: Cocktails and Mocktails at JG Sky Bar, a comfortable lounge on the 60th-floor, Philadelphia’s premier happy-hour experience – with sky-high city views.
7PM: Dinner on the 59th floor at Jean-George.
SATURDAY
9AM: Breakfast either in room or at Vernick Coffee Bar, a modern Philadelphia café. Featuring a takeaway bakery and barista bar, along with a full-service 40-seat café, serving up a menu of high-impact, global flavour combinations.
10:30AM: Drop the kids at a craft class to decorate gingerbread houses and holiday cookies. Parents can partake in one of the holiday workshops or hit the gym/spa.
AFTERNOON: Hit the city for some holiday stroll, shopping and visits to famous landmarks including the beautiful campus of UPenn. We highly recommend a lunch stop at Parc, a traditional bistro fare served in a setting that reminds of belle epoque Paris.
7PM: Dinner at Vernick, a modern seafood restaurant helmed by James Beard Award–winning chef Greg Vernick. Enjoy the lively indoor-outdoor atmosphere and excellent service along with Greg’s unique approach to American cooking.
SUNDAY
BRUNCH: While in Philly, brunch at The Love is a must located just steps away from beautiful Rittenhouse Square.
POST BRUNCH: A visit to The Barnes Foundation with a private docent-led tour to The Museum of Art before hitting the road to head home.
WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
MAPPS X FS PHILADELPHIA: Mapps is a preferred partner and receives special nightly rates, daily breakfast for two guests per bedroom and a one-time $100 food and beverage credit per room.
GETTING HERE: 2.5 hours from Westport, CT, 1.5 hours from NYC and 2.5 hours from Washington, D.C. by car.
P.S. It is impossible to go to Philly and not have a cheesesteak. We recommend grabbing a few cheesesteaks from Pat’s, the king of steaks for the car ride home.
